Something like Sauce Hollandaise
I admit it: As a non-vegan, I haven’t actually had ‘real’ Sauce Hollandaise more than once. And I didn’t particularly like it then. Now, I needed a sauce to go with salsifies – which I also only ate once or twice before. I have a fond memory of the two paired together, a delicious recipe of the mother of one of my childhood friends. Now, here’s my take on it. The result is thick and creamy goodness (which would also just love to meet up with asparagus!).
stick of vegan margarine, 1/2 cup
3 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 cup soy creamer
1-2 tsp. salt
pepper, paprika powder to taste
turmeric, a pinch
bay leaves, 2
1/2 tsp. mustard
1 tbsp. soy flour
1 tsp. fresh lemon juice
1. Melt the margarine in a sauce pan.
2. Add flour and soy flour, mix well, and let simmer on low heat for about a minute.
3. Add the everything else.
